The Whole Enchilada:

Lower Section

Get a taste of the Whole Enchilada (WE) by riding the best trails it has to offer. The Whole Enchilada Lower Section is comprised of LPS (lower porcupine single track) and the world-famous Porcupine Rim trail. If you prefer to go a little higher, it is just a short pedal to reach the access trail to UPS ( upper porcupine single track). This allows you to ride three (3) of the seven (7) trails that make up the Whole Enchilada trail system. No need for an all-day commitment when you can ride the “WE” lower section and still have energy left in the tank for tomorrow's ride!

If you prefer to only ride Porcupine Rim, you have that option as well. We drop off at the Porcupine Rim trailhead prior to the LPS trailhead.

Trail Description:

LPS connects to the world-famous Porcupine Rim Trail. Together these two trails make up the lower section of the Whole Enchilada Trail System. LPS provides a Slickrock playground, progressing into brief patches of flow trail sections coupled with ledges, sharp turns, and drops. After entering LPS, riders are given the option to negotiate two different sections of the trail. The “Notch”, is a short steep technically challenging route, that is recommended for the most experienced riders only. Or, the Snotch which begins with an off-camber rocky entrance followed by technical switchbacks. The trail continues to traverse the rim, winding in and out of sandstone ledges coupled with technical rock features. Eventually, you emerge onto the Porcupine Rim overlook. This is a famous spot to stop for a snack and snap a picture of the majestic view of Castle Valley.

Details:

To continue on the Porcupine Rim trail, head right at the sign towards Enchilada (Porcupine Rim). The next section is a high-speed bone chattering rock garden littered with sandstone shelves, boulders full of drops, and optional features. The ride commences with a spectacular singletrack section that provides amazing views of the Colorado River. The singletrack is exposed with many technical features. It finishes at the Porcupine Rim parking lot located adjacent to the Grandstaff Campground on the Colorado River. If you are riding either Porcupine Rim or the Whole Enchilada lower section, park your car at the Porcupine Rim TH parking lot to eliminate the six (6) mile pedal back to town.
