Trail Highlights & Features
LPS (Lower Porcupine Singletrack): A diverse mix of rim-side singletrack, tech features, and rock drops.
The Fork (Choose Your Line):
- The Notch: Extremely steep and technical; for experts only.
- The Snotch: An off-camber, rocky switchback entrance leading to a technical slab feature. For experts only.
Porcupine Rim: After regrouping at the scenic Castle Valley overlook, prepare for a "bone-chattering" descent through sandstone shelves, high-speed rock gardens, and technical cliffside singletrack.
Extend Your Ride: Adding UPS
If you want more mileage without the all-day commitment of the "Full Enchilada," you can add UPS (Upper Porcupine Singletrack) to your descent.
| Option | Mileage / climb from drop-off | Access instructions |
|---|---|---|
| Lower UPS Only | 0.25 miles | Pedal from the drop-off to Porcupine Rim Campground. |
| Full UPS | 2.5 miles / 600 ft climb | Pedal 1.2 miles to the Kokopelli entrance, then 1.4 miles to the UPS trailhead. |
⚠️ Critical Logistics & E-Bike Policy
Parking: We strongly recommend parking your vehicle at the Porcupine Rim Trailhead (River Parking Lot) near Grandstaff Campground. This eliminates a grueling 6-mile paved pedal back to town at the end of your ride.
E-Bike Restriction: We do not pick up e-bikes from the river. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please ensure you are on a non-motorized mountain bike for this shuttle pickup.
Route Summary
- Total Trails: LPS + Porcupine Rim (plus optional UPS).
