⚠️ Travel Alert: 2026 Logistics Update: HWY 128 Construction

Due to a major BLM and UDOT project to extend the public bike path, Highway 128 (River Road) will be reduced to a single lane with active traffic control from March 9th through October 31st, 2026.

What This Means for You

To avoid significant construction delays and pilot car queues, we have adjusted our meeting location:

  • New Meeting Location: Grand County Transit Hub (also known as the Lions Park Transit Hub).
  • Location Detail: Located at the intersection of HWY 191 and HWY 128, directly across from the Colorado River.
  • Return Trip: It is a scenic 3.2-mile pedal along the paved Colorado River bike path from the bottom of Porcupine Rim back to your vehicle at the Transit Hub.

Important Notes

  • Expect Delays: Heavy traffic is anticipated on HWY 128, particularly during peak morning and afternoon hours.
  • Campground Closure: Please note that Grandstaff Campground will be closed for the duration of the project as it is being used for construction staging.

📍 Directions

From Moab:

  1. Head North on HWY 191.
  2. The parking lot is located on the corner of Highway 191 and Highway 128, directly across from the river.
