FAQ:
Do you have questions about Hazard County Shuttle or our services? We've got answers.
Due to a major BLM and UDOT project to extend the public bike path, Highway 128 (River Road) will be reduced to a single lane with active traffic control from March 9th through October 31st, 2026.
What This Means for You
To avoid significant construction delays and pilot car queues, we have adjusted our meeting location:
New Meeting Location: Grand County Transit Hub (also known as the Lions Park Transit Hub).
Location Detail: Located at the intersection of HWY 191 and HWY 128, directly across from the Colorado River.
Return Trip: It is a scenic 3.2-mile pedal along the paved Colorado River bike path from the bottom of Porcupine Rim back to your vehicle at the Transit Hub.
Important Notes
Expect Delays: Heavy traffic is anticipated on HWY 128, particularly during peak morning and afternoon hours.
Campground Closure: Please note that Grandstaff Campground will be closed for the duration of the project as it is being used for construction staging.

Shuttle services are now authorized for Class 1 mountain bikes (pedal-assist only, 20 mph max) intended for trail usage. All shuttled e-bikes incur an additional $5 fee and must weigh 58 lbs or less to protect equipment and staff. Because Moab trails are exceptionally rugged, bikes must be manufacturer-approved for off-road use; if you are unsure if your model qualifies, please contact us or consider a rental from Rim Cyclery Bike Shop at our in-town pickup point.
Where You Can (and Can’t) Ride
E-bikes remain strictly prohibited on all US Forest Service (USFS) lands and specific protected BLM areas.
Crucial Raptor Route Note: To avoid illegal riding on USFS land, all e-bike shuttles for the Raptor Route will drop at the Hawks Glide Trailhead, located 2 miles below Eagle Eye.
Unsure how much your bike weighs?
Your hometown bike store or Moab Bike Shop can weigh it for you ahead of time.
Please note: If you show up for the shuttle with an unapproved bike (class, weight, manufacturer intended use), you may be refused service without a refund.
It is your responsibility to make sure your bike is compliant. Again, if you have questions, contact us before your shuttle with the brand and model of your E-Bike.
If you want a more intermediate ride, exit Gemini Bridges Road and park your vehicle at the Bar M/Moab Brands area. Exiting the Poison Spider Mesa trail, will allow you to climb up the Goldbar singletrack and ride the double black diamond Gold Bar Rim trail bypassing the expert level Portal Trail.
If you are an advanced to expert rider, you have the option of exiting the Portal trail, consisting of extreme exposure on the top portion and large chunky technical moves on the bottom half. It is highly recommended, WHEN IN DOUBT, WALK IT OUT! Live to ride another day!Depending on traffic and road conditions, the drive is roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour from the bottom of Porcupine Rim Classic Trailhead River Parking Lot to the top of the LPS (Lower Porcupine Rim Classic) trailhead.
The drive consists of 10 miles on asphalt and 12 miles on Sand Flats road which is a rough dirt road. The last 4 miles from the water tanks to the cattle guard are quite rowdy and wreak havoc on vehicles.
You can expect a bumpy ride as the road is littered with rocks, dips, uneven ground, and washboards. Riding with Hazard County Shuttle not only saves you time and money, but wear and tear on your vehicle and most importantly "your relationship" should you ask your significant other to shuttle you.We offer in-town pickups at Rim Cyclery bike shop for those of you who do not have the ability to transport your bike to the trailheads.
This is a great option if you are:- Renting a bike and do not have a vehicle or bike rack.
- Sharing your vehicle with your significant other or family member.
- Your rig is already set up and you do not want to move it.
- Some folks prefer to log in extra miles by pedaling back into town.
